Garret 'G' Wood-Sternburgh
Garret 'G' Wood-Sternburgh is an architectural designer and educator with a multidisciplinary background spanning fine art, architecture and digital fabrication. He holds both a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan, where he also served as a research associate. His work is grounded in material exploration, informed by early training in ceramics, and shaped by hands-on experience in welding, cabinet making and CNC-based fabrication. Alongside his architectural studies, he pursued coursework in existential philosophy, which continues to inform his critical and human-centered approach to design. Professionally, he has contributed to a range of design and design-build practices across Michigan and Pennsylvania, including roles in Traverse City, Ann Arbor, Detroit and Philadelphia.
Garret currently practices as an architectural designer at DRAW Collective, where his work focuses on publicly funded K-12 education projects with an emphasis on community engagement and equitable design. His research and writing explore the intersection of design, technology and education, including his publication "Digital Digital Fabrication Fabrication," which examines remote mentorship and the democratization of digital fabrication knowledge. He brings a practice-based, accessible approach to teaching that bridges technical skill, design thinking and material innovation.
