This course builds a capacity for visualizing three-dimensional space through freehand drawing. Students also learn to use line, tone, and color to represent architectural space and architectural proposals. The course includes freehand drawing in-class exercises building on the ongoing design work of "48-105: Architecture Design Studio: Poiesis Studio II." The course has four parts: 1) Freehand and constructed perspective, 2) Shade, shadow, and chiaroscuro drawing in charcoal and colored pencil, 3) Color drawing in pastel, and 4) A final project built around the "48-105" final project that combines freehand drawing, color work in Photoshop, and a 3D digital model.
Prerequisite: "48-121: Drawing I" or permission of the instructor.
