Fall 2024 Architecture Awards: Applications due Nov. 1
Carnegie Mellon Architecture is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Fall 2024 Awards. Applications are due on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 11:59pm ET.
Over $80,000 in funding is available to support travel, projects, internships and research for undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty. Awards also recognize student work in sustainable design. More information is available on the Awards page.

Project/Internship Support

B.Arch & M.Arch Student Award
The Burdett Assistantship is open to all students pursuing their first professional degree in architecture and is intended to support projects and activities that will enhance the winning student’s future work.

• Fall 2024 Award Amount: $3,000 each (two (2) available for B.Arch and one (1) available for M.Arch) -
Undergraduate, Master's & PhD Student Award
The Alwin Cassens, Jr. Memorial Fund in Architecture provides financial support to students to attend conferences or other events in support of their academic pursuits in the area of public interest design.

• Fall 2024 Award Amount: $2,000 each (up to four (4) available) -
Undergraduate Student Award
The Measuring & Monitoring Services, Inc. Internship Fund provides financial support to undergraduate students who wish to undertake a summer internship or related program under the guidance of established professionals during the summer preceding their final year of undergraduate study.

• Fall 2024 Award Amount: $1,500 (three (3) available to third year B.A. and/or fourth year B.Arch students)
Sustainable Design Award

The Ralph H. Burt Jr. and Alva L. Hill Scholarship provides financial support to students whose work focuses on sustainable environments, performance-based design, and systems integration throughout the design process in alignment with the legacy of the work of Burt Hill.

• Fall 2024 Award Amount: $2,000 each (two (2) available for undergraduate students and two (2) available for master’s students)

Undergraduate & Master’s Student Award
The Gindroz Prize for Summer Travel and Study in Europe was established to enrich lives and enhance education through travel and the study of traditional architecture, urbanism and music in Europe. Students in the second or third year of a four year undergraduate program, in the third or fourth year of a five year undergraduate program, and master’s degree graduate students in their first year are eligible to apply.- Fall 2024 Jury: Joshua Lee (Chair), Doug Cooper, Francesca Torello, Tommy Yang
- Fall 2024 Award Amount: Proposals of up to $10,000 will be accepted
- Note: The school will fund the proposed amount up to $10,000. For example, if the proposal is for $6,500 then that amount will be awarded. If the proposed amount is over $10,000, then only $10,000 would be awarded.

Faculty Award
The Ferguson Jacobs Prize in Architecture was established to promote the continuity of traditional architecture and building techniques in contemporary architectural practice.
