Fred Betz is a founding principal of NeuMod Labs, LLC (NML) in Madison, Wis. Founded in 2018, NML is a technology startup focused on the development of building design technology with an emphasis on data warehousing, retrieval, and automated insights generation. NML has been offering its product, Jarvis, since early 2023 to dozens of firms in the AEC industry. NML also provides consulting to several clients in the fields of decarbonization, energy and water efficiency, energy and ventilation code compliance, standards development, peer review, and data analysis.

Fred is an instructor of Energy Efficiency in Buildings at the University of Wisconsin–Madison as part of the Master’s in Sustainable Systems Engineering program. Fred is also an adjunct professor of Building Controls and Diagnostics at Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned his Ph.D. in Building Performance & Diagnostics in 2009. Fred sits on several committees for ASHRAE, ASHE, and the U.S. EPA WRAP, and is an active participant with IBPSA-USA.
