Mick McNutt
Mick McNutt has been practicing architecture in Pittsburgh since 1976. Unlicensed, he inadvertently drew his dream home as an elevation and self-portrait at the ripe age of three years old. It included hands and arms so the house could high five guests as they arrived. Originally wanting to be a farmer, once he realized that profession was not just raising animals, he made a shift to the role of student from 1977-2004 at various institutions like Ben Franklin Elementary, University of Pittsburgh, and Syracuse University in New York and Florence, Italy. Working at firms in Pittsburgh since 1999, Mick has completed a variety of institutional and community-based projects in the region: Gateway Station downtown, University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering and Hillman Library, Contemporary Craft in Upper Lawrenceville, and Braddock Carnegie Library (now Carnegie One.) Since 2025, near the end of capitalism, Mick has turned their attention to teaching and community-based projects as opposed to a protected profession which excludes in great numbers. Mick looks forward to the next 25 years of innovation in our region and AEC industry. Peace.
