Nathan Sawyer
Nathan Sawyer is a registered architect with over 20 years of experience spanning architectural design, hands-on construction, and project management. In his role as Facilities Director for Carnegie Mellon Architecture, he draws on a deep technical background in building performance and construction administration to oversee space planning, physical asset management, safety compliance, and capital renovation projects across university environments.
He also serves as Special Faculty at the school, bringing two decades of professional architectural practice into the classroom. He holds a Master of Science in Architecture–Engineering–Construction Management from CMU and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon. He teaches courses across building performance fundamentals and design and documentation in Revit. Nathan is committed to mentoring future architects by bridging the gap between theoretical design, advanced BIM workflows, and practical construction execution.
