Tonya Markiewicz
Tonya Markiewicz is an architectural project manager, designer, and educator based in Pittsburgh, Pa. She has been working in various modalities of practice since 2009.
She is the recent founder of Chora Consulting, LLC. Chora Consulting serves the architectural, building, and landscape communities through sustainability-focused design consulting. Through Chora, she has worked with residential clients, as well as contributed to a large-scale project with the Mexico City-based offices Multiplicities and Rojkind Arquitectos.
Her architecture firm experience includes working for Pittsburgh-based PWWG Architects and New York City-based Morris Adjmi Architects. At these offices, she worked on several award winning projects, including The Eatery at the University of Pittsburgh, the 8th and Penn Apartment Complex, and the 41 Great Jones Street residences. Tonya also worked for Massaro Corporation’s design-build office, where she served as sustainability coordinator and managed LEED continuing education courses.
Since 2009, Tonya has served at the nonprofit organization Braddock Redux in various capacities. She has been thrilled to support the borough where her father grew up. Through the nonprofit, she has assisted with maintaining, preserving, and renovating the borough's architectural assets. She has also worked in education with the Braddock Youth Project.
Tonya holds a Bachelor of Industrial Design from Pratt Institute, a Master of Architecture and Certificate of Ecological Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a LEED Green Associate. During her time at UPenn, she co-founded the student publication "via." She also worked as a teaching assistant/seminar leader for the graduate level course "History and Theory of Architecture."
