This course is for graduate and fifth-year B.Arch students participating in the prestigious national Urban Land Institute (ULI) Hines competition. This is an intensive real estate and urban design competition that takes place January 5-19, 2026, to compete and submit a proposal for a site in Austin, Texas. Optional pre-competition preparation workshop sessions are offered the week prior to January 5. The course includes delivering and sharing competition entries and completing a post-competition survey. The purpose of the competition and companion course is for cross-disciplinary teams of students to work collaboratively to create a complex urban design and real estate proposal on a real site in North America. Competition entries include a narrative, drawings and financial analysis. Each team selects and works with a design faculty advisor(s). This course is required for Master of Urban Design (MUD) students. Previous real estate coursework or knowledge is preferred. All registrants are waitlisted until their teams are registered with ULI (deadline November 19, 2025). Please contact the coordinator Stefani Danes to participate.
